  • There are a variety of resources that can be used on test day. This video will show how to use American Sign Language. This is an accommodation that may or may not be assigned by an IEP team, depending on a student’s need. During testing, American Sign Language is available for questions that require listening to a passage to answer a question.

  • The view zooms in, and a window appears in the center of the screen. Inside it, there is a paused video where a man is using American Sign Language.

  • This is what the American Sign Language accommodation will look like once you have followed these next steps.

  • The window disappears, and the view zooms back out until the entire page is visible.

  • To access the American Sign Language accommodation for passages that require listening, select the context menu and select the American Sign Language option.

  • The view zooms in toward the audio section on the left side of the screen. The cursor hovers over the context menu button at the upper-right side of the audio section. The button is a box with three horizontal lines.
  • The cursor selects the box, and a box appears below. There is a grayed-out [Highlight Selection] button and a highlighted [American Sign Language] button with the letters "ASL" beside it.
  • The cursor selects the [American Sign Language] button, and a partially visible window appears beneath it.
  • The view zooms out to reveal the window, which is in the lower-left corner of the screen and displays a video of a man using American Sign Language.
[VO NARRATOR]
  • A video box with an interpreter will appear in the lower-left corner of the screen. If you do not like the location of the video box, you can use your mouse or trackpad to move it to any part of the screen.

  • The cursor selects the top section of the window and drags it to the middle of the screen.

  • You will notice at the bottom of the video screen, there are various controls.

  • The cursor hovers over the bottom of the window, and the video controls appear. There is a play and pause button on the left end of the controls, a scrubber bar in the middle, a number button reading "1x" to the right of the scrubber bar, and a full-screen button on the right end of the controls.
[VO NARRATOR]
  • You can play and pause the video, you can use the scrubber bar to advance and rewind the video, you can use the number button to the right of the scrubber bar to slow the video or increase the pace of the video, and finally, you can increase the size of the video to full screen.
[GRAPHICS]
  • The cursor selects the play and pause button four times, pausing, playing, and pausing the video before allowing it to continue.
  • The cursor selects the scrubber bar and drags it back and forth to advance and rewind the video. A small box floating above the cursor displays the current time code for the video.
  • The cursor hovers over the number button to the right of the scrubber bar, displaying a vertical rectangular box with the options "1.75x," "1.5x," "1x," and "0.5x." The cursor selects "1.5x," and the speed of the video increases by 50 percent.
  • The cursor selects the full-screen button, and the window increases in size to cover the entire screen.
