  • There are a variety of resources that can be used on test day. This video will show how to use the audio transcript. This is an accommodation that may or may not be assigned by an IEP team, depending on a student’s need. During testing, there are passages that are read to you. If it is decided that it is helpful for you to read along with the speaker or just read the words yourself, here’s what your screen will look like once you have followed these steps.

  • The view zooms in, and a window appears in the center of the screen. Inside it, there is a transcript of the passage contained in the audio file, with a scroll bar on the right-hand side.
  • The window disappears, and the view zooms back out.
[VO NARRATOR]
  • To display the audio transcript feature, it must be turned on prior to testing. When there is a question that requires listening, select the [Transcripts] button in the upper-right of your screen using your mouse or trackpad.

  • The view zooms in on four buttons in the upper-right corner of the screen: [Line Reader], which displays an image of a line, [Transcripts], which displays an image of a page with text on it, [Zoom Out], which displays a magnifying glass with a minus sign in the lens, and [Zoom In], which displays a magnifying glass with a plus sign in the lens.
  • The cursor selects the [Transcripts] button, and the view zooms out as the transcript window opens in the center of the screen.
[VO NARRATOR]
  • You will then see a box with a transcript of everything the speaker is saying if you select the [Play] button in the audio box. You can either just read the text or play the audio and read along. You will be able to scroll through the text by selecting the bar to the right of the box, which will allow you to move the text up or down. To close the audio transcript box, select the "X" in the upper-right corner of the box.

  • The cursor moves to the audio box and selects the [Play] button on the left-hand side of the audio bar.
  • The cursor selects the scroll bar on the right side of the audio transcript window and slides it down to move through the audio transcript.
  • The cursor selects the "X" in the upper-right corner of the audio transcript box, closing the window.

  • A braille transcript of this option is also available for the same listening passages, depending on your need. The audio transcript may be read by a screen reader device to produce a braille transcript. Note that different devices may require different actions in order to make these selections.
