  • There are a variety of resources that can be used on test day. This video will show how to use the digital notepad. During testing, this tool can be used to take notes on any of the questions or passages you may be working on. This is what the digital notepad will look like once you have followed these next steps.
[GRAPHICS]
  • A notepad window appears in the center of the screen. There is a large blank space for text and two buttons at the bottom of the window labeled [Cancel] and [Save and Close].
  • The notepad window disappears.
[VO NARRATOR]
  • For the computer adaptive test, go to the upper-right corner of the screen, select the context menu button by using the mouse or trackpad, depending on the type of device you are using, and then choose the notepad option. For the performance task, you will select the [Notes] button in the upper right hand of the screen.
[GRAPHICS]
  • The cursor moves to the upper-right corner of the screen and selects the context menu, which is just below the [Line Reader], [Zoom In], and [Zoom Out] buttons and is represented as three horizontal lines.
  • Four buttons appear below: A [Tutorial] button, a [Mark for Review] button, a [Notepad] button, and a [Highlight Selection] button, which has been grayed out. The cursor selects the [Notepad] button.
  • The notepad window appears in the center of the screen.
[VO NARRATOR]
  • As you can see, the digital notepad will then appear in the center of the screen. If you don’t like where the notepad is, you can use your device to drag the notepad to a different part of the screen.
[GRAPHICS]
  • The cursor selects the top of the notepad window and drags it around the screen before returning it to the center.
[VO NARRATOR]
  • When you select the notepad, a cursor will appear and you can start taking notes. Remember, these notes won’t be saved once you move to the next segment of the text or if you take a break from your test for more than 20 minutes. When you are done with your notepad, you have two choices: Select [Cancel] to close the digital notepad and delete your notes, or select [Save and Close] to save your notes for later. Note that different devices may require different actions in order to make these selections. Thanks for watching.
