From left to right, they are labeled [Line Reader], [Zoom Out], and [Zoom In].

  • There are a variety of resources that can be used on test day. This video will show how to use the line reader. During testing, this tool can be used to highlight each line as you read it, helping to not lose your place. This is what the line reader will look like once you have followed these next steps.
[GRAPHICS]
  • The first line of the passage on the left becomes highlighted faintly in blue.
  • The passage returns to normal.
[VO NARRATOR]
  • To use the line reader, go to the upper-right corner of the screen and select the [Line Reader] button using your mouse or trackpad. You will know the line reader is successfully selected when the button changes color. Once the line reader has been turned on, select any sentence, and that line will be highlighted. Once you are done reading a particular line, you can use your mouse, trackpad, or arrow buttons to select the next line to continue reading. Notice that you can also highlight question items as you read through them. You will also be able to use the line reader tool to select responses to the questions. When you are done using the line reader or would like to turn off that feature, select the [Line Reader] button again. You will know the line reader has been turned off when it changes back to its original color.

  • The cursor selects the [Line Reader] button in the upper-right corner of the screen. The [Line Reader] button turns orange, and the first line of the passage becomes highlighted.
  • The highlighter moves down the first paragraph of the passage, line by line.
  • The cursor selects the first line of the questions section on the right side of the screen, and it becomes highlighted. The highlighter moves through the answer options, line by line. The cursor selects two of the answer options.
  • The cursor selects the line reader button, and it turns from orange back to white. The highlight disappears.
