CAASPP and ELPAC: Update to CALPADS Processing

Dear LEA CAASPP Coordinator or LEA ELPAC Coordinator:

There continue to be issues with processing CALPADS data into TOMS. The CALPADS Office is actively working to correct the issue.

If you updated students' designated supports, accommodations, or unlisted resources between April 6, 2022, and the present, these test settings will be processed and available in the test delivery system (TDS) on April 22, 2022. ETS will email an update to LEA coordinators once these test settings are available in TOMS and the TDS, and will continue to accept and process future changes.

The following student information cannot be updated until the CALPADS file is processed:

Test assignments (moving students to or from alternate assessments)
California Science Test registration (CAST)
California Spanish Assessment (CSA)
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) indicator
Section 504 plan
Primary disability code
Primary language code
Student preferred first name
Remote testing video permission
Grade level
Parent/Guardian exemption (PGE)
ELPAC domain exemption(s)
Not tested due to medical emergency (NTE) condition code
Administration window start or end date
English language acquisition status (either by completing the Initial ELPAC or updates by the LEA)
Any other student demographic information

Coordinators should provide test administrators and test examiners a list of any students whose information has changed. Prior to allowing a student into an assessment, test administrators or test examiners will need to ensure that students are taking the correct assessment by grade level, subject, and type (alternate or general). If a student has been given an ELPAC domain exemption, the test examiner should not test the student in that domain, even if the domain shows as available to the student.

Test administrators and test examiners should verify the following information to ensure student data is accurate prior to testing:

Demographic data (i.e., student name, grade level, school, etc.)
Correct assessment type—if a student should be administered the alternate assessment, do not administer the general assessment to the student
Test settings, to ensure the student has accurate designated supports, accommodations, and unlisted resources assigned
Domain exemptions for the Initial and Summative ELPAC—if a domain should be exempted but still appears in the TDS, do not administer that domain

If students are assessed with incorrect test settings, test assignments, or demographic information, coordinators will need to submit Security and Test Administration Incident Reporting System cases in TOMS.
