Invitation to Submit a Shared Practices Proposal for the 2022 California Assessment Conference
CAASPP email update, June 2, 2022.
Dear CAASPP and ELPAC LEA Coordinators:
The power of peer-to-peer learning is well understood and appreciated by California educators. At the 2021 California Assessment Conference (CAC), sessions featuring school and district practices were some of the best-received and highest-rated parts of the conference.
For the 2022 CAC, we want to offer Shared Practices sessions featuring teachers, teams, and school sites from across the state that have developed best practices for implementing assessment resources in support of teaching and learning. Through these Shared Practices sessions, the California Department of Education (CDE) is seeking to highlight and support the work of California educators, create a platform for peer-learning, and support integration of the CAASPP and the ELPAC resources into teaching and learning.
This year's conference, themed "Partners in Progress: Building Assessment Literacy in Schools," will be held in person on October 18–20, 2022. A condensed virtual conference will also be offered for those who cannot attend in person. It will feature a core audience of classroom teachers, teachers on special assignment, teacher coaches, and site administrators.
We look forward to highlighting shared practices that will showcase your team's expertise in tying assessment topics into remote and in-person teaching and learning best practices.
Submission Criteria
The CDE is looking for proposals that:
- Highlight assessment tools or practices
- Include one or more classroom educator(s) on the presentation team
- Are geared toward the target audience of classroom educators and site administrators
- Speak to, or incorporate, the conference theme
- Are no longer than 60 minutes in length

The CDE reserves the right to schedule the Shared Practices sessions as individual sessions or as part of a panel discussion on a selected topic.
