CAASPP: CAA Test Examiner Tutorial Is(Coming Soon)in Moodle
CAASPP email update, September 1, 2021.
Dear CAASPP Coordinator:
This email is intended to provide an update on the availability of the 2021–22 California Alternate Assessment (CAA) Test Examiner Tutorial in the new Moodle Training Site (Moodle):
- General Section—available now
- CAA for Science Section—available now
- CAAs for English Language Arts/Literacy (ELA) and Mathematics Section—available December 2021
The General section covers general information needed to administer all CAAs. The CAA for Science section highlights best practices and recommendations for administration of the four embedded performance tasks (PTs) in the science assessment. The Test Examiner Tutorial does not contain any secure content.
Local educational agency (LEA) coordinators are responsible for ensuring that test examiners have a Test Operations Management System (TOMS) account. Test examiners who have an account in TOMS, will receive an email on September 7, 2021, regarding the availability of the tutorial and completion requirements. LEA or site coordinators should notify test examiners that they will receive an email on how to access the Moodle training site.
Moodle User Accounts
A Moodle user account will be necessary for all LEA and site coordinators and test examiners. Moodle user accounts can be created centrally by the LEA coordinator or individually by users. Individuals who already have accounts do not need to create new ones.
How to Create Moodle User Accounts in Bulk:
(Note: This action can only be done by the primary LEA CAASPP coordinator.)
- Access the CAASPP-ELPAC Administration and Scoring Training (AST)
website.
- Populate the template with names and emails.
- Email the populated template to moodlesupport@scoe.net.
Access Codes and Enrollment Key
The LEA CAASPP coordinator is responsible for distributing the Moodle Enrollment Key to appropriate staff. To access your enrollment key:
- Access the CAASPP-ELPAC AST
website.
- Enter the access code for <LEA>: <passcode>.
- Select the [CAA Moodle Training Site] button.
To assist you in communicating about the enrollment key to your staff, the CAA Test Examiner Tutorial Moodle Template Letter is available on the CAA web page. After obtaining your enrollment key, this letter can be customized and distributed to staff on or after September 7, 2021, when the tutorials are available.
Moodle Completion Reports
Prior to administering any CAA for Science embedded PT, test examiners must complete both the General and the CAA for Science sections to obtain the CAA for Science Certificate of Completion.
Test examiners administering CAAs for ELA and mathematics can return to Moodle in December 2021 to complete this section and obtain the CAAs for ELA and Mathematics Certificate of Completion.
The LEA CAASPP coordinator can request access to view reports and monitor test examiner certificates of completion. This access may be granted to additional staff members as needed.
How to Request Reporting Access:
- Identify the personnel who require reporting access.
- Log on to the CAASPP-ELPAC AST
website.
- Select the [CAA Moodle Training Site] button.
- Submit the appropriate names and email addresses and select the [Save] button.
For instructions on monitoring test examiner tutorial completion status, refer to the "Monitoring Completion Status" chapter of the Moodle User Guide within Moodle.
Planning Guides and Version Assignments
The CAA for Science consists of four embedded PTs that can be administered in any order, beginning September 7, 2021, through the end of the school year or July 15, 2022, whichever comes first. Planning guides and version assignments are available on the following web pages:
- CAA for Science Administration Planning Guides : These guides help with early planning and scheduling of the embedded PTs.
- CAA for Science Form Assignments or CAAs for ELA and Mathematics Form Assignments : These form assessment web pages are searchable by county, LEA, school, or County, District, School (CDS) code.
Please note that the form number for science may be different than the form number for ELA and mathematics.
If you have any questions regarding the test examiner tutorials, please contact CalTAC by phone at 800-955-2954 or by email at caltac@ets.org.
