CAASPP: Updated Student Score Data Files Now Available
ELPAC email update, October 4, 2021.
Dear LEA CAASPP Coordinator:
The 2020–21 student data file is updated to include all student results and is now available for download in the "Reports" section of the Test Operations Management System (TOMS). A separate file containing CAA for Science preliminary indicators is also available. These files are available to LEA coordinators only.
CSA Student Score Reports (SSRs) will be released on Tuesday, October 5, 2021.
Accessing the CAASPP Student Score Data File
Take the steps outlined in the CAASPP Student Score Data Extract Report section of the TOMS User Guide to access the CAASPP Student Score Data File in TOMS. Note that the LEA's score data file is available in Excel files.
The Student Score Data File can be generated to include either all students who were enrolled in the LEA at the end of the test window ("By Enrolled LEA") or all students who tested in the LEA ("By Tested LEA"). When the 2020–21 results are released to the public reporting website in late fall, the aggregations will reflect students who tested in the LEA.
LEAs should consider the volume of students tested when using these results to make decisions. LEAs that were able to test a majority of students may have a more accurate picture of overall performance than LEAs that tested only a few students.
The CAASPP Student Score Data File includes results for all students who took the following assessments:
- Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments for English language arts/literacy (ELA) and mathematics
- California Alternate Assessments (CAAs) for ELA and mathematics
- California Science Test
- California Spanish Assessment (CSA)
Preliminary indicators for the CAA for Science are available in a separate file. There will be no SSRs released for the 2020–21 CAA for Science. For more information about the preliminary indicators for the CAA for Science, please visit the Preliminary Indicator Communication Toolkit web page.
Student results will also continue to be available through the Test Operations Management System (TOMS) , the student information system vendor portal, and the California Educator Reporting System (CERS) .
