CAAs for ELA and Mathematics Section of the Test Examiner Tutorial Is Available Now in Moodle
CAASPP email update, December 21, 2021.
Dear California Educator:
The California Alternate Assessments (CAAs) for English Language Arts/Literacy (ELA) and Mathematics section of the 2021–22 CAA Test Examiner Tutorial is available now on the Moodle Training Site (Moodle) .
The General section covers all of the basic information needed to administer all CAAs, including the CAA for Science. The CAAs for ELA and Mathematics section highlights the components of that assessment. The Test Examiner Tutorial does not contain any secure content.
Completion Requirements
Prior to administering the CAAs for ELA and mathematics, test examiners must complete both the General and the CAAs for ELA and Mathematics sections to obtain the CAAs for ELA and Mathematics Certificate of Completion.
If the General section has already been completed, it is not necessary to repeat this section of the tutorial. Test examiners may begin directly from the CAAs for ELA and Mathematics section.
Accessing Moodle
A Moodle user account is necessary for all test examiners. The local educational agency (LEA) California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) coordinator should contact test examiners soon with information about how accounts will be set up for the LEA.
Test examiners will access the tutorial using the Moodle enrollment key provided by the LEA CAASPP coordinator.
Completing the Course
To receive the CAAs for ELA and Mathematics Certificate of Completion, test examiners must view each video completely and answer all of the "Checks for Understanding" questions correctly in both the General and CAAs for ELA and Mathematics sections. A check mark to the right of each item will indicate successful completion.
The Certificate of Completion will be emailed to the test examiner upon selection of the [Get Certificate] button. The certificate may be saved or printed for reference. The LEA CAASPP coordinator and test site coordinator can confirm a test examiner's completion status by accessing the LEA Moodle Account Reporting feature.
Form Assignments
Form assignments for the CAAs for ELA and mathematics are available on the CAAs for ELA and Mathematics Form Assignments web page. Form assignments are searchable by county, LEA, school, or county-district-school code.
LEAs assigned to Form 5 will be required to complete second scoring. This will require both a primary and a secondary test examiner to be present during testing. Secondary test examiners within the assigned schools should make sure to complete the "Second Scoring" portion of the CAAs for ELA and Mathematics tutorial. The LEA CAASPP coordinator can confirm whether test examiners need to fulfill this requirement.
Test examiners who have questions about the administration of the CAAs should address them to their CAASPP test site coordinator. CAASPP test site coordinators should direct questions to their LEA CAASPP coordinator. LEA CAASPP coordinators should direct questions to their LEA Success Agent .
Sincerely,
California Outreach Team
