About Supported Operating Systems

A new version of a supported desktop or mobile operating system may not be supported immediately upon its release. It is recommended that you do not upgrade student testing devices until the operating system version is supported. More information, as well as the list of supported operating system versions, can be found on the Secure Browsers external icon web page.

When students are using a macOS 11 (Big Sur) device to take tests in remote sessions, the screen sharing feature does not function properly. While students are permitted to share a screen with the test administrator or test examiner, the student interface does not display on the Test Administrator Interface. This issue occurs whether the student is using a conventional web browser or the secure browser application.

Workaround: Students must use Chrome, Windows, or an earlier supported macOS version, to be able to use screen sharing.

When setting a test administration window for the Smarter Balanced (ELA and mathematics), CAAs (ELA and mathematics), and CAST in the Test Operations Management System (TOMS), the Test Administration Start Date is automatically populated with a date that is one day prior to the allowable window’s start date.

When setting this test administration window, the user must readjust the Test Administration Start Date to match the listed dates to avoid a system error message.
