2021–22 Administration Year

Smarter Balanced English language arts/literacy (ELA) and mathematics results will be released into the California Educator Reporting System (CERS) independently providing earlier results to LEAs. In prior years, results were not released to CERS until both the ELA and mathematics assessments were completed and scored. Student Score Reports will continue to be released after both assessments are completed and scored, or at the end of the test administration window.

2021–22 Administration Year

The Lexile® and Quantile® measures will be linked to the Smarter Balanced ELA and mathematics. Lexile measures will be reported in CERS for students who take the ELA assessment. Quantile measures will be reported in CERS for students who take the mathematics assessment.

The Student Score Data Files and the Test Results for California's Assessments Link to external site website will display California Science Test (CAST) results for the graduating students in grade twelve, including students who took the CAST in a prior year as a grade ten or grade eleven student.

2022–23 Administration Year

The Lexile and Quantile measures will be linked to the Interim Comprehensive Assessments (ICAs) for ELA and mathematics. Lexile measures will be reported in CERS for students who take the ICA for ELA. Quantile measures will be reported in CERS for students who take the ICA for mathematics.

2023–24 Administration Year

ETS and the California Department of Education are working with Student Information System (SIS) vendors and the Special Education Information System (SEIS) vendor on a test settings automation process.

This solution will allow test settings to be sent directly from the LEA's SIS or SEIS to the Test Operations Management System (TOMS) automatically, thereby eliminating the need for the LEA to manually upload or update TOMS with this information.
